The Family Bed created by co-sleeping families for co-sleeping families
FAMBED is a Danish family business, founded in 2022 out of our own need and the dream of finding a flexible, modern and above all affordable bed – made from honest materials without compromising on comfort, safety or aesthetics.
After several years of development and perfection, version 1 of the FamBed Family Bed was thoroughly tested in everyday life and by the end of 2024 the bed was ready for the market.
Today, we are proud to know that thousands of young families in over 50 countries now enjoy a safer and more restful sleep in our Family Beds.
Meet the Families Behind
FamBed was started by serial entrepreneurs Kasper & Oliver, who have several well-known and well-loved projects behind them. The Family Beds were developed with support and honest feedback from Josephine and Laura, who are a great support in the ever-changing entrepreneur-family life. Both families co-sleep in different ways.

At FamBed, we don’t believe that the night should just be “got through” – we believe it shapes the whole family’s everyday life. Our philosophy is based on something fundamentally human: Children need safety, even when they sleep. Most children wake during the night, and many react with restlessness when they experience distance from their parents. When safety is close, they often settle more quickly again. This means fewer full awakenings, fewer long re-bedtimes on the edge of the bed and less night-time alarm for the adults.
We start from the fact that a child who feels safe doesn’t need to use energy searching for security — that energy can instead be used to learn, develop, play and be present during the day. Therefore, co-sleeping for us is not just about sleep, but about wellbeing: more continuous nights, softer mornings and greater energy in family life. Because when everyone sleeps better, there is often more patience, more closeness and fewer short tempers in the pressured hours.
FamBed is created to make this closeness possible in practice – without compromising on comfort, space or aesthetics. We design Family Beds that provide room for both the child’s need for safety and the adults’ need for good, real sleep. For us, it’s not a question of ideals, but of everyday life: A bed that supports the child’s need for security at night can help lift the whole family during the day. And under the right conditions, it’s just really cosy!
What makes FamBed different? – Designed for co-sleeping and strong values
FamBed is designed with a modern Scandinavian expression, where all design and material choices focus on comfortable and safe co-sleeping. Additionally, at FAMBED we have some strong core values and believe in transparency. This applies to everything from our material and design choices to our pricing policy.
Here are some key choices in our design:
- Modular design – add space if your family grows, or move modules when the children move to their own rooms.
- Reversible mattresses – medium and firm comfort sides, so you can find the comfort that suits you.
- One complete solution – legs, frame, mattresses, cover and full mattress topper included in the price (optional extras such as fitted sheets, headboard, bed guard, waterproof fitted sheet, etc. can be purchased).
- Sizes in 10cm intervals – so you can get exactly what suits you (perhaps the dream of a “wall-to-wall bed”).
- All certified materials, we try our best to balance price and sustainability and we never compromise on product safety; therefore all textiles and foams used in our products are Oeko-Tex 100 certified and all wood is FSC certified.
FamBed’s Core Values:
- No sales – always honest prices: We never run Black Friday or short-term offers. We believe that all families deserve access to good sleep all year round. Therefore, we maintain a fixed, honest and low price 365 days a year.
- Safety and comfort above all: We use only 100% natural latex (D65) in our mattress toppers. We do this because it provides the medium/firm support that experts recommend for safe co-sleeping – unlike soft memory foam, which can create dangerous indentations in the sleeping surface.
- Modular freedom: Our beds are designed to grow with your family. They can be expanded when more family members arrive, and they can be divided into individual modules when the children are ready to move to their own rooms.

FamBed currently delivers worldwide with production based both in Denmark and the USA. So far, FamBed has delivered beds to co-sleeping families in over 50 countries, and we are delighted to see a new country added to the list each time.
The Story of FamBed
"The Backstory" – Once an entrepreneur, always an entrepreneur
Behind FamBed stand Oliver and Kasper and their families. Oliver and Kasper previously created, among other things, the commercial success and "nationwide hit" Citatplakat, which from 2015 onwards designed and produced posters featuring the funniest catchphrases and quotes from popular culture. In 2020, they joined forces with their biggest competitor "Dialægt" for the Danish version of the TV programme Løvens Hule (Dragons’ Den) and have since become one of the Nordic region’s leading poster brands with over 1,000,000 posters sold in Denmark alone.
The Idea Was "Born"
Kasper (Co-founder of FamBed) had his first son Oskar and quickly experienced that space in the bed became cramped when breastfeeding. At the same time, it would ease Josephine’s nights not to have to pick Oskar up and down from the bedside crib if everyone could sleep on the same sleeping surface. So, one sleepless night spent on the edge of the bed, Kasper searched for beds with extra width, but to his surprise, the bed he dreamed of did not exist. BUT since Kasper is an entrepreneur to the core, the thoughts began to grow as Kasper thought, "We can’t be the only ones with this problem."
"The Prototype" of DIY KIT 1.0
As an entrepreneurial idea/business, FamBed could not yet be realised as the Citatplakat project was booming and required full concentration. Therefore, initially it was just a homemade solution with an extra bed next to their own and a full mattress topper and fitted sheets along with the first version of our bed bridge, bed strap and bed valance.
Dialægt Quote Poster Sold
In August 2022, Citatplakat was sold. This gave the entrepreneurial duo Kasper and Oliver time and opportunity to focus on new entrepreneurial projects, which they quickly decided should include their passion project FamBed.
Launch of the "DIY kit" Co-sleeping Bed
After Kasper and Josephine’s prototype had passed several years of everyday testing, the prototype underwent several rounds of upgrades and optimisations, after which we launched our FamBed "DIY" co-sleeping bed extension kit for families who simply want to extend their bed rather than replace it.
2 Years of Product Development of the FamBed Family Bed
Our DIY kit was very well received, but we also received countless requests from families who wanted a complete bed. Therefore, we began developing our FamBed Family Bed, which proved to be extremely challenging to produce as we wanted it at an affordable price. We started travelling the world meeting fabric producers, bed factories, foam manufacturers to learn more about materials, production methods, etc. Since the dimensions of our beds, fitted sheets, etc. are anything but standard, they often require special processes, machines and materials. This fact, combined with our refusal to compromise on materials, comfort, safety or practical design, made the product development of our family bed a long journey. With countless prototypes and everyday tests with ourselves, friends and acquaintances as well as the first test customers.
Launch of the FamBed Family Bed
After almost 2 years of product development, we were finally able to proudly launch our FamBed Family Bed "2.0" – a complete continental bed modularly built and ready to grow with your family, where more modules can be added as more children arrive or modules removed as they are ready for their own room.
Constant optimisations and product development
Everything we do at FamBed is focused on improving families' sleep and bringing back energy and closeness in a modern busy everyday life filled with separation, careers, screens with "social media" and generally a fast pace. Therefore, we constantly optimise our product and accessories to make it a little more practical and easier to be parents of young children, a small helping hand from us that we know many appreciate.
Expansion and sales throughout the EU
In January 2025, following intense demand, we opened up for international orders and began a process of localising our webshop into several languages (.de .se .no .nl .co.uk .com .fr .eu and more). Today, we have sold Family Beds to over 50 countries and we celebrate every time we can place a new pin on our world map.
